Music Week Spotlights FENIX360 and Gaana’s New Direct-to-Fan Ecosystem

Trade press coverage confirms what’s coming next in the FENIX360 x Gaana partnership — and why it matters for one of the world’s largest untapped music markets.

This week, Music Week — one of the music industry’s leading trade publications — covered the next phase of our partnership with Gaana, India’s leading music streaming platform. The feature confirms details first shared at Mumbai’s All About Music conference, where FENIX360 and Gaana took the stage together for the panel “Gaana & FENIX 360 – Building the Artist Fan Ecosystem.”

Building on a Foundation

This isn’t a first date — FENIX360 and Gaana’s partnership dates back to earlier this year, when the two companies first began exploring an alternative revenue model for artists on the platform. This new announcement marks the next chapter: a full direct-to-fan ecosystem, set to integrate into the Gaana app by the end of 2026.

What’s Being Built

At the center of the integration is a native media feed inside the Gaana app, featuring synced catalogue playback alongside artist content — giving fans a way to discover and engage with artists without ever leaving the platform they already use to listen.

Alongside the feed, artists will gain access to a full suite of monetization tools, including the ability to:

-Operate independent storefronts for physical and digital merchandise
-Offer live-event ticketing
-Host gated livestreams
-Receive direct financial support from fans

A dedicated artist app rounds out the offering, giving artists audience analytics, content upload tools, and community-moderation features — everything needed to understand and grow a fanbase from within a single dashboard.

As with all FENIX360 tools, artists and rights-holders retain 70% of the revenue generated through the platform.

Why India, Why Now

The timing here isn’t incidental. A recent report from EY and the Indian Music Industry (IMI) found that while the overwhelming majority of Indian smartphone users consume music, only a small fraction are paying subscribers — a stark contrast to video streaming’s much larger paid base in the same market. That gap represents both a challenge and an opportunity: one that a direct-to-fan model, built around community and commerce rather than subscriptions alone, is designed to help close.

In Their Words

Yatish Mehrishi, CEO of Entertainment Network India Limited (which owns and operates Gaana), framed the shift simply: music platforms need to grow beyond passive listening and into spaces where artists and fans can genuinely discover, engage, and connect with one another.

Allan Klepfisz, Founder, Chairman & CEO of FENIX360, echoed that ambition, describing this moment as bigger than any single feature rollout — part of a broader week-long celebration bringing together artists and audiences from around the world.

Part of a Bigger Week

This Gaana update is one piece of FENIX360’s larger Streaming Reimagined campaign — a week that also included a global streaming celebration on August 27 featuring performances from artists across 13 countries, and culminates on August 31 with the launch of the FENIX360 Artist Trust, chaired by legendary concert promoter Harvey Goldsmith.

What’s Next

As these tools roll out fully by the end of the year, we’ll be sharing more on how artists in India — and around the world — can get involved. This is what building the future of music actually looks like: partnership by partnership, market by market.
